one week
it's been that long since my last post, give or take a day or three. obviously this translates into you reading another monster update. the twist is that if i had posted this morning, it would've been only half as long. funny how life's like that - really slow for the longest time and the moment you start wishing for a change of pace, you get left behind. owel. in any case, here goes:
i. paradigm
since our playing at lacey's debut was [supposed to be] hush-hush, i didn't blog about any of our practices. anyway, at one of the studios we rehearsed, we were competing for a timeslot with a band named paradigm. i recently found out that paradigm was the first band of sam, who lent me her guitar for our debut debut performance. small world, eh?
ii. mcsi
you probably already know about what happened at ls2k4 so i won't repeat it here. i won't comment much on it either, just that the phrase "it was his time" is a load of crap.
iii. the national museum
even if we got in for free i was expecting more than a thirty-minute lecture and a ten-minute walk through a room full of file folders [the contents of which of course remain unknown]. the folder room was actually worse since they stuffed every cabinet full of mothballs and there were a
lot of cabinets. i guarantee half an hour in that room and you'll never have sinus problems again. ever.
iv. leap
i signed up for a course in cartooning but was an hour late [no thanks to frytz]. i didn't miss anything though since the moderators didn't seem that interested in organized lecturing [and i've yet to meet an artist who is]. bottom line: i didn't learn anything but i doodled a little on the last page of my notebook. but i don't consider it time wasted though since you really can't teach drawing any more than you can teach programming. no biggie.
v.
a tale of two sistersavoid this movie at all costs. this includes being handed a free ticket. with regular movies, you watch it, you understand it, then you either like it or you don't. i'm still hung over step two. half the movie's scenes seemed to be dedicated to nullifying any possible conclusions a logical viewer might draw. i remember telling lacey "never mind the setting - it's the company that counts". god, i didn't realize i'd turned into such a liar. the only good memory i have of the two hours is kimber shouting "stupid
ka, bitch!" at the screen loud enough for half the moviehouse to hear.
vi. anmath1 and encomp1
the first tragedy was swiping my sister's calculator only to leave it at home. she failed her first math quiz because of that. the second was that my own test was amazing, for lack of a better term, and i now have a large chance of flunking it. and the third tragedy was getting back the results of my encomp1 quiz - a 47 over 60. and i would've aced it too, if our professor [whose name i don't care to remember] didn't nitpick every last abbreviation, capitalizated letter, and punctuation mark in my answers to the last test. as if anybody in the real world cares if my references follow the ieee format or not. sheesh.
vii. pedance
after so many hours spent practicing, it was extremely anticlimactic for the actual presentation to literally be over in a few minutes. the worst part was that i missed a lot of steps and i have to admit that i felt really down afterwards because of this. if i had been at center stage [as i was originally blocked] i could've passed off my mistakes as scripted but i opted to move left a spot and shit happened. there's a world of difference between messing up at something you're usually good at and messing up at something you're not. somehow it's only lately that the latter have been coming my way. good thing bunny invited me to watch animo ignition with her so that cheered me up after a while. now obviously the next subtopic is
viii. animo ignition
this turned out to be a song, dance, and band competition [but i left early so don't bother asking who won]. i was only able to hear one singing group, which did a rockapella-type medley of iris and that famous song by usher. they had great backup singers but the lead seemed to rely more on volume than accuracy. the dances were great too, notoriously jabi's rendition of me against the music. he'd have been my bet if only he'd bowed out before his unfortunate ocho-ocho finale. there were four or five bands after that, but only one stood out - i especially loved their reggae version of ain't no sunshine. bigote played intermission numbers, including nana, but compared to how i remember it from the ccs acoustic night, it didn't sound as good this time. what i do remember clearly is the mc shouting out "can anyone guess what's the next events is?"
let's see... spot the
barok?
