capital sins
first off, a belated happy birthday to chami, jp, and anyone else i might have forgotten.
went to school yesterday to enroll, then went bowling afterwards with bj, vince, lyn [bj's cousin], and the aforementioned jp [
salamat ulit sa libre]. what a horrible game. can't wait to become rich enough to install my own alley at home.
dinner followed at the westin hotel. i'd promised bj that i'd honor him with a double serving of rice, but at 90 pesos each, that turned out to be an impossibility. what we did have though were
kway teow,
nasi goreng, jambalaya, skewered prawns, and battered salmon, followed by blueberry cheesecake with three sauces, and gourmet coffee. i asked the waiter where the coffee came from [africa perhaps? latin america?] and he replied that they grew the beans in batangas. well there's honor for you.
at the next table over, there was a japanese tourist who ordered a beer ["that will be 120 pesos, sir"], then paid for it in one-peso coins. now i've seen everything.
exploring the hotel with my sister, i came across the hotel lounge, which was sunk two feet into the ground and furnished in the japanese style - futons, low tables,
ikebana, and decorative kimonos. you know what they say about
great artists stealing.
