the beautiful letdown
watched
the terminal with bunny, chudor, paco, and rogi. we had dinner first though, which meant tender bob's for the other three guys, and cheesecake for chudor and rogi. bunny and i had [and i quote] mango and strawberry half-and-half ice "moonster".
anyway back to the movie: plot, characterization, and dialogue were all well-thought-out and the actors themselves lent themselves readily to their roles. tom hanks did extremely well as the headliner, and both diego luna and chi mcbride [the principal from
boston public] delivered as promised, but the star of the show was kumar pallana as the amazing gupta.
basta. see it for yourselves.
aside from its face value, the movie also provides valuable life- [and love-] lessons, such as that tom hanks is the everyman while catherine zeta-jones is kimber; that a man can learn english in a week by comparing city guides in english and bulgarian sentence by sentence; that french history is the key to the perfect relationship; that all krakozhians are master carpenters; that fountains are kiss-activated; and that viktor navorski is a zobelian [based on charm, luck, and fishing skills].
the title of this post, though, refers to the single most important lesson of the movie: sometimes you wait so long for something to happen that something else happens, instead. and you're glad it did.
