first straws

in more ways than one, and for more people than myself.

i. introse

"from this moment, stop calling yourselves programmers - you are now software engineers."

cool.

our prof's the department head, ms ethel ong. she seems interesting enough, which compensates for the subject matter, which she herself warned us would be boring as purgatory [logically speaking, hell isn't boring]. i can't finalize anything from my first impressions though. she's like ms tangkeko in that respect. perhaps i'll name a drink after her as well. ethel alcohol will do nicely.

she mistook me for lod, i think. i base this from her statement that i "look like a cse student". but whether she meant a *certain* student or not, i can't be sure. oh, and according to her, ms limoanco was ms nats' compro1 teacher. huwaw mehn.

ii. comorga

this is reputedly the subject with the highest mortality rate in the whole flowchart [50%, i believe]. for some reason, instead of ms moreno, none other than the great jiji wong entered the classroom. the good news is that now i'm sure to pass [what's new], but the bad news is that i'll be hard-pressed to get a 4.0 [what's new].

iii. introso and genpsyc

both subject professors gave unusually high percentage cuts to attendance [20 and 30% actually] and seem generous overall. but time will tell - i've been betrayed by first impressions before.

iv. "you're just the personality we're looking for."

some guy approached me on the street and handed me the following flyer:

YOU HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED. For our PRINT and TV COMMERCIALS. We have been in the business of building careers for countless people like YOU. Just check out the commercials of Coke, Jollibee, Skyflakes, Sony, Petron, Ho-Mi Noodles, Colgate, Dove, J&J, Kotex, Splash, Dunkin' Donuts, Nestea, Granny Goose, and lots, lots more, and we are continuously discovering new talents like you for our high-profile clients. Start on a rewarding experience. Modeling is both fulfilling and financially rewarding. It could be your career.

pretty flattering actually, until i turned it over and saw the words "please pass to others" stamped on it. when i read that the flyer was for the don management casting agency, everything suddenly made perfect sense.
