parousia

kimber somehow convinced me to go swimming with her today. she said to meet at 10am so i decided to start by 12. i arrived at 1, a full 30 minutes before her. she certainly takes filipino time to a whole new level.

it didn't matter anyway, turns out, since the lifeguard took one look at my trunks and told me to beat it. bikini or shorts, lycra or polyester, trunks are still trunks. jeez. i really don't get the point of that rule. assuming of course that gay lifeguards aren't using their rulemaking authority to enhance their visuals. eww. i happen to like my trunks. they're poolbootom-blue with white watermarks designed specifically to make me look naked underwater.

i used my sudden free time to pay my tuition fee. there was a semi-snafu at the sfa office due to my failure in anmath. argh. calculus is an even bigger bitch than i am. but god was trying to comfort me, i think. the guy seeing ms kikuchi* [the sfa head] before me had two failures and a gpa below 2.000. i know it's mean but that gave me hope since i was feeling kinda mediocre after failing. yes yes i have a superiority complex. what's new.

after that, renz, chudor, kimber, and i headed to lourdes school of mandaluyong for the sandwich concert. actually the only reason i went was because renz and rogi were part of the opening act, sadly named "living colors".

this requires some explanation: rogi was asked by his former teachers to help them out with guitars and since they also lacked a bassist, he invited renz to tag along. renz, ever the sawsaw, effectively signed his own death certificate. not that they were bad. they merely should have replaced their male vocals, is all. i for one wouldn't want to be associated with a singer whose latest single is "stizzy's mom".

i'd have to say the saddest point of the evening would have to be dj dylan saying "you've seen them teaching everyday, now hear them rock you!" then hearing the opening riff of the calling's wherever you will go. gak. that's the problem with a band whose members are from different generations - the older you get, the more skewed your sense of what's currently popular becomes.

owel. at least renz garnered a lot of fanboys and rogi a lot of fangays. there was an entire tarushkada stationed in front of kimber, chudor, and myself, in fact. needless to say, we frequently went for water at the fountain on the other side of the field.

chudor was kind enough to offer me a ride home. thanks pare. it took us longer to get from bicutan to marcelo than from mandaluyong to bicutan due to some construction work on the service road. i suppose it's better than just letting the road erode away to topsoil. at least our current mayor's doing something.

a final word to the cast and crew of we were swimmers: you didn't build the pool or measure out the chlorine. you can't do anything about the work environment so just keep swimming.
