what's new
the dlsu dial-up has been non-responsive the past few days so i wasn't able to update. not that anything really noteworthy happened since my last post, but it does become harder to write after an extended hiatus. anyway, here goes:
i.
sid meier's piratesthis game is too good for words. play it, i command you!
[you can actually install off my cds, since they came with a no-cd crack. the queue is rather lengthy, though]ii. happy birthday tin²
vince was first to inform me, via text messaging:
vince: punta ka ba sa birthday ni tin?
self: di ako invited e*the next day*
tin2: oy arun sorry ngayon lang ako nagkaload punta ka sa birthday ko bukas ha?
self: gotchatrue or not, it wasn't my karma to attends, since around two hours before i had planned to leave, my stomach decided to go on strike. in such a scenario, whether stomach or system emerges victorious, i'd still be the loser.
i guess it was a happy birthday for me too.
iii. fashion statement
instead of the usual black tees, i wore a couple of colored shirts to school this week. almost all the friends i ran into noticed the change. not that i'm trying to be gothman or whatever. i would wear colored shirts on a regular basis, but black is so much more practical*.
iv. talk is silver
last monday, one of my students requested for an hour's extension. by the time i finished, there were no more jeeps on the road, so the kid's mother volunteered to drive me up to edsa. i agreed, since a free ride is a free ride.
after some minutes, i noticed that she was swerving a lot, and at 80kmph, that's not a good sign. she must've noticed my pensive expression because she apologized, saying she hadn't driven in 10 years.
at this point, my mother happened to send me a text message:
mother: did mrs lee drive you?
self: yes we're on our way now. but she hasn't driven in 10years. O_o
mother: ok just pray.ah, that korean wit. what would we do without it?
v. time is gold
and yet, the students i am tutoring plan to return to korea permanently by june. in the meantime, they're requesting that i help them three times a week. although i welcome the added income, this means even less time for myself. in addition to that, the commute to and from global city, as well as the job itself, noticeably wears me out. but i suppose i should just tough it out. i'll probably never land another job that pays a five-digit figure for a six-hour work-week.

practical: black not only gives the illusions of slimness and a fairer complexion, but it's also a better pick when the weather's hot [as compared to grey, for example].
