i was finally able to finish watching the film, thanks to reggie [the dvd i had bought fucked up halfway through]. i found the movie thoroughly enjoyable and eagerly anticipated the sequel, until five minutes ago, when i stumbled across this viewer comment:
One of my uncles insults the intelegence of this film and he's wrong it is very intelegent.Alot of just don't get the humor or have never seen(or not as many as they would know)hong kong cinema.But it is laugh out loud.Mix of slap stick and spoofs that pays perfect homage.It may never be considered one of the greatest comedies of all time but is damb sure hillarious.
somehow i suddenly find it difficult to defend the film's "intelegence".
