oh, the humanity!
i never realized how utterly and completely boring a nine-to-five really is. let's face it - pointwest is a serious company, and as such don't really have much need for six students disrupting their activities in the name of training. if i owned or managed a company, i'd probably pay the ojt'ers not to show up.
today marks my 13th day 'working' here. i've done four 12-page drafts of a brs [business requirements specifications], a working system prototype [scrapped], and have read through both the 195-page srs [system requirements specifications] and charles' richter's
software engineering series: designing flexible object-oriented systems with uml.
ok, so i lied. i never actually finished the book. but it's very useful for when you want to take a nap but have to look busy. my point still stands, though, that they gave us backwater projects we're not expected to finish, and which they'll probably do over after we're gone, or give to the next generation of students to do over. in an average week, i spend 36 hours doing nothing, and eight cramming for a presentation, review, or revision. not unlike my high school study patterns at all.
i've been so bored, i've read through half of
bash.org, half of
grouphug.us, william goldman's
the princess bride, and the script from peter s. beagle's
the last unicorn. i've noted the facial similarities between joseph "whazhu wan me do? whoyu wan me kill?"
ratzinger and
warcraft iii's
troll headhunter. i've solved seven of
the stone's puzzles, and discovered the wonders of the
candirú catfish.
my current hobby is flaming
77truthseeker's blog, posting both as 3finger_salute and as godjesus_amen.
yes, i'm that bored.
