a no-brainer

those of you who have been reading my blog since the start of this term will know that our filipi2 prof, the illustrious dr. lakan garcia conducts class as if it were an hr workshop. our biweekly routine consists of a thirty to forty-minute lecture on human psychological and ethical work traits, an accompanying graded activity, and a wrap-up cum introduction for the next lesson.

this week's learnings were focused on the performance difference between left-brained and right-brained individuals, the former of which are more effective in management and the latter in rank-and-file. i had long thought myself to be a logical left, but a comprehensive written exam proved otherwise, that i was more of a kinetic right. in hindsight, it was the more fitting answer, since lefties are planners before doers and righties are doers before planners.

as usual, we spent a few minutes discussing student curiosities before dismissal. most questions involved sir lakan discerning whether the left or right brain was at work in certain anecdotal situations. after a few were done with, he reiterated that lefties preferred to think rather than act, and righties vice versa. he then added that lefties often had a systematically organized room, while righties were more avant-garde with their belongings.

then of course some smart aleck had to ask: "paano po kung magulo po ang kwarto ko at gusto ko s'yang ayusin, pero hindi ko po masimulan? kaliwa po ba 'yun o kanan?"

without missing a beat, sir turned to him and said: "hijo, tamad ka lang."
