level up!

i was idly flipping through channels late last night when i caught urbandub's myx live performace [thanks to vince for the heads up]. i truly believe that that band has the potential to put the philippines on the music map, like what the eraserheads might have, if not for the fact that most of their best work was in the vernacular.

but this post is not about that.

rather, after a half-hour of good music, urbandub made their exit and what next band should grace my screen but the ever-popular cueshe. now don't get me wrong - it's always tough being a noob, and as a musician i know that sometimes the temptation to 'borrow' material is strong, sometimes overwhelming. and, yes, sometimes one composes melodies which subconsciously [i refuse to say "accidentally"] resemble others.

but this post is not about that either.

what this post is about is the fact that while some people will remain oblivious to the fact that simple plan, silverchair, the itchyworms, or orange range are just paperwork away from throwing a court case at you, it is inherently more difficult to get away with the complete duplication of an entire music video, especially if the song accompanying it is basically the same thing as the original's. case in point - 24 hours. that whole staring at pictures and holding your head in your heads while your house burns down is so... i don't know... it's been awhile maybe?

It's been a while
Since I could hold my head up high
And it's been a while
Since i said i'm sorry

A certain Kw@rk H3nar3s was involved in directing that very music video (bobiboni.7ayvj0urn@7.kom/13005.html). -J.O.
