the washing of the feet
katrina tuvera quimbo, our instory professor, had invited paolo manalo, of
malate writers' workshop and
jolography fame to speak to the class regarding his personal take on the craft.
the result of the talk was something akin to the proverbial tossing of pearls before swine [not to be mistaken for a charge of amentia; merely one of disinterest], a rather painful exercise in attempting to instruct students in a matter which will never concern them. in my opinion, it takes a sizable amount of nerve to public discuss concepts which you know are fundamentally pointless for the target audience.
after class, i approached him in order to relate that the story i had presented during the workshop had succeeded in seeing publication. but before i could get a word in edgewise, he turned to me with an accusatory air, and asked "why aren't you updating your blog?"
i, sir, am not worthy!
