antichrist superstar

michel de nostredame predicted the rise of three antichrists before the end times, who would reshape the world of their time, albeit in a rather negative sense. of these three, scholars have considered "pau nay loron" and "hister" to have been decidedly identified, yet the third, referred to as "mabus" remains anonymous to this day.

nostradamus was rather fond of wordplay, and his cryptonyms often incorporate several levels of meanings [take for example, the second antichrist, which is both a rhyme and the greek word for the river danube, along whose banks a certain führer grew up]. one therefore has to wonder it is merely an exercise in overanalysis to realize that "mabus" spells out "subam" when reversed, and "ma-bus" when syllabicated, revealing the two central players in the recent international free-for-all.

if we are to run with this hypothesis, the question then must be answered - which of the two should we guard against? well, given the events of this morning, there should be little doubt remaining on the matter. i need not elaborate on the resumé of an megalomanic; after fahrenheit 9/11, it's more or less a given. put simply, evil knows not how to share power.
